Our Story

Meet the Team at Lake Havasu Boat Patrol

The Lake Havasu Boat Patrol was formed in 2020 as a much-needed and required resource for safety patrol during local race and spectator events on Lake Havasu and the Parker River. The patrol consists of over 20 captains and 40 crew members with decades of professional boating experience.

Their professional backgrounds include Coast Guard-approved Captains, local Search and Rescue, PADI Certified Rescue Divers, EMT/CPR Training, Rough Water Survival, Law Enforcement, the Fire Department, Hot Air Balloon Recovery, and Colorado River Student Education.

The team trains prior to special events to ensure each member receives the most current safety information. A debriefing at the conclusion of these events ensures all incidents, if any, are recorded and precautions are established for future events. From 2020 through 2023, the patrol members provided multiple days of services to each of the 20 special events in Mohave and La Paz Counties along the Colorado River.

These events include:

  • The Outboard Word Classic
  • Lake Havasu Balloon Fest
  • IJSBA World Finals
  • Jet Jam PWC Racing Series
  • Pro Watercross International Cup and Water Expo
  • US Freestyle Championship
  • IJSBA International Jet Ski World Finals
  • Parker Pioneer Personal Watercraft Racing (PWC)
Our Approach

Our Dedicated Safety Approach on the Water

Knowledgeable Team

Our team members are experts in water safety and are passionate about boating on Lake Havasu while ensuring a secure and safe environment.

Volunteer Spirit

We proudly volunteer our time to patrol lake events, fostering a strong sense of community and safety while enhancing your local recreational boating experience. During watersport races or aerial balloon events, spectators become overwhelmed with curiosity and sometimes cross the line from the safety zone into a racecourse area or flight path.
One of the many Jobs we perform is to help facilitate a boundary between these two areas for the safety of both the spectator and the event drivers/pilots.
In the event of a life-threatening situation, our patrol team is trained to jump into action and take appropriate measures to contact authorities, follow protocol to ensure the safety of those in peril, and help resolve problems.
